Orange Park, FL Air Conditioning Repair & Service
Orange Park, FL History
Although the town of Orange Park wasn’t founded until 1877, the area has harbored human settlements for thousands of years. Prior to its founding, Orange Park was home to a series of well-run plantations that grew citrus fruits and other crops.
Unfortunately, a terrible freeze toward the end of the 19th century destroyed the local groves and forced the bulk of Florida’s citrus industry to move south. With the advent of air conditioning, Orange Park became a top destination for retirees and second homeowners from points further north. These days, it’s a booming bedroom community for Jacksonville.

The town of Orange Park lies in the northeastern corner of Clay County. It’s adjacent to the much larger city of Jacksonville and boasts robust transportation connections to the center of it. Much of Orange Park is covered by low to medium-density housing and commercial development as well as undeveloped patches of forest that harbor tremendous biodiversity. Nearby thoroughfares include Interstates 95 and 10 as well as Florida Highway 15.

Thanks to the ongoing expansion of nearby Jacksonville, the town has grown rapidly in recent years. Many of its residents work in the neighboring metropolis, but Orange Park does have a robust business district and commercial strip as well. The town is also popular with seasonal “snowbirds” from northern cities.
Things to Do in Orange Park, FL
