3 Pets That Are Goood for Your HVAC System and Your Health
Many families enjoy the comfort and love that a pet brings into the household, but they worry that it will reduce the indoor air quality. Contaminants in the air can cause clogs within the HVAC system in your Orange Park, Florida, home. As these pollutants swirl through your indoor air, they can cause respiratory problems and other illnesses. While there are no pets that are completely hypoallergenic, there are several breeds of animals that are less likely to trigger allergy symptoms than others. If you are a pet lover, you can still find a four-legged friend that is perfect for you even if you have allergies, asthma, or another respiratory ailment.
A Sphynx cat might make a welcome addition to your home. It is bald, so it doesn’t shed any hair that might be a problem for some. This breed is friendly, affectionate, and energetic. Be aware, however, that Sphynx cats tend to build up a layer of oil on their skin and nails and need weekly baths. They are also heat-seeking and may require clothing or blankets to keep them warm in the winter.
You’re probably familiar with the cuddly terriers that love to play and cuddle. They make excellent companions if you’re worried about allergies. They don’t shed as much as other dogs. You can choose from several terrier breeds, from the large Airedale Terrier to the tiny West Highland White Terrier. Just keep in mind that they need plenty of attention and exercise. They’ll also require regular grooming, so their hair does not become matted.
Fish, Birds, and Reptiles
If you’re not sold on cats or dogs, consider an alternative pet. Hamsters are less likely to trigger allergies, as they are kept in a small area and won’t spread dander throughout the house. While birds can sometimes trigger asthma and allergy symptoms, fish, and reptiles do not. You might like to have a school of goldfish swimming in an aquarium or even a salamander.
